Diversity is an ever present theme of Portland, Or.  From the sprawling surrounding forests to the charged inner city bustle.  Portland revels in it's differences.  Quirky and quaint, the the city can time warp back and forth depending on where you stand.  Music is an underlying presence emphasizing this diversity.  From Jazz to Rock....Indie to Punk....Folk to Classic....Country to Opera....it's all what you want or where you go.
It's Boomerville as well: full of people convinced that high school graduation was only a couple of years ago but they remember pet rocks.  Out of this diversity and agedness comes an endearing band of guys called Old Elbows.
Max Bullen, Dennis Young, and Ted Graham reentered the bar wars several years ago for the fun of it.  Cutting their teeth with various bands in the seventies the idea of getting "back into it" sonded good.  Not just satisfied with cover tunes they engaged in writing song that reveal the band's own sense of diversity.  Tragic...whimsical...heart warming....hard rockin'... Old Elbows delights the ears with ever changin styles firmly planted with the idea that any music done well is well done.
Rounding out the quintet are Gary Jones (sax, flute, and harmonica) and Donny Williams (drums).  Old Elbows likes to joke that collectively they have 175 years of musical experience. Well, they sound fresh and reminiscent at the sme time.  More of the Portland time warp at work.
